Join Dr. Jennifer Morris of Edmond Psychiatric Associates as she distinguishes between key characteristics and symptoms that may indicate a medical concern that is not a primary mental health illness. Dr. Morris will also facilitate discussion on appropriate advocacy for referral and briefly discuss the boundaries in mental health professionals' scope of practice.
Objectives Include:
-To distinguish between mental health and other medical presentations.
-To facilitate appropriate referrals and develop the element of medical concerns the treatment plan.
-To engage in appropriate collaboration with patients and advocate for health.
This course meets criteria for 3 hours of general continuing education by the Oklahoma Board of Behavioral Health for Oklahoma LPC and LMFT license holders, by the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers (provider #20220088) for Oklahoma LCSW license holders, by the Oklahoma Board of Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselors (certificate #20220018) for LADC and CADC license holders (3 hours non-specific CEUs), and for Oklahoma case managers (3 hours general CEUs).
Dr. Jennifer Morris
Dr. Morris graduated from OU medical school in 1999 and completed a residency at Griffin Memorial Hospital in 2003, where she was named chief resident 2002-2003. She is board certified in psychiatry as well as substance abuse, obesity medicine, and addiction. She is trained in repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and psychedelic medicine She has practiced outpatient psychiatry for 20 years, and founded Edmond Psychiatric Associates in 2008. She has focuses in substance abuse and treatment-refractory depression including interventional medicine.
