What to Know if You Haven't Renewed Your LPC or LADC License
With June coming to a close, many Oklahoma LPC and LADC clinicians are working diligently to wrap up their continuing education requirements for licensure renewal. The online licensing portals have made license renewal more streamlined and convenient, with renewal applications often being approved immediately. Though the deadline for renewal is not until the end of the month, clinicians may not want to wait to log onto their renewal accounts or submit their CE certificates.
The deadline for LPC and LADC license renewal, June 30th, will fall on a Sunday this year. While the weekend may grant clinicians ample time to review and upload their certificates, if there are any difficulties with technology or logging onto one’s account, the Oklahoma Board of Behavioral Health Licensure and the Oklahoma Board of Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors will be closed and likely unavailable over the weekend. Representatives from the Board of Behavioral Health Licensure have stated that no one will be available over the weekend to assist with tech support or license renewal. This means that calls, emails, and messages for assistance in licensing renewal will likely go unanswered until Monday July 1st.
Even if a delay in licensing renewal is due to technical difficulties, it is likely that the renewal application will still be considered late. This delay will likely result in one’s license being considered inactive, as well as the accrual of fees and possibly additional continuing education requirements. To reduce the likelihood of technical difficulties, clinicians are encouraged to attempt to log into their respective licensing portals and begin to upload their CE certificates before this Friday June 28th at 5:00 PM.
To download certificates for trainings taken through the Oklahoma Counseling Institute, log onto the CE portal here and select the “my certificates” tab of your account. For more information on renewal or for assistance in logging onto one’s licensing portal, contact the Oklahoma Board of Behavioral Health Licensure or the Oklahoma Board of Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors.
